Challenge #2 – Healthy containers for healthy food

Nowadays, there are more than 80.000 kinds of plastics, most of them protected by patents that made their composition an industrial secret and make it impossible to recycle them in an efficient and systematic way.

Over half of the weight of plastic is made of tens of additive products that give it its properties (toughness, flexibility, stiffness, colour, etc.). Hundreds of scientific studies now demonstrate that the common plastic additives are seriously hazardous to human health. Among them, they highlight Bisphenols, phthalates, styrene, vinyl chloride, flame retardanst and heavy metals. Some of them are known as endocrine disrupters. This means they are suspected of interfering with the endocrine systems of both humans and wildlife, which can lead serious cellular mutations.

Now it is time you make the moove

In our second challenge, the aim is to reduce the plastic containers you use to store your food. Remember that we don’t only use food containers for taking lunch to the office. We also can avoid the use of aluminium foil or plastic wrap paper, freezer bags or plastic containers for leftovers.

What is this challenge’s goal?

  1. Become aware of the fact that the plastic from containers can contaminate the food,
  2. see how easy it can be to have healthier habits,
  3. and start replacing our plastic food containers made by glass or stainless steel ones that preserve better food flavor and quality.
