Product available with different options

Note: This toothbrush head has plastic bristles. We have decided to sell it because we feel that it is the best vegan alternative to 100% plastic toothbrushes.

By far the majority of plastic toothbrushes are NOT biodegradable no recyclable as they are made from various different types of plastic and that, along with their small size, makes them nearly impossible to recycle.

  • When this toothbrush head wears out it is replaceable, resulting in a saving of more than 50% of the materials required when compared to other bamboo toothbrushes.

  • Replacement Bamboo Head: designed specifically to be long and narrow making it easy to access those difficult to clean areas of our mouths, such as our molars and the backs of our teeth.

It is 100% natural, made from Moso bamboo - Phyllostachys edulis - (also known as winter bamboo), a type of bamboo that is not consumed by Giant Pandas.

Why bamboo? Simply because it is biodegradable, compostable and has exceptional natural properties. For example, it grows and thrives without the need for fertilizers, pesticides or even extra watering. Bamboo also has natural antibacterial properties that make it perfect for helping us fight against dental plaque.

Originally from China, BOO uses bamboo that comes from eco-responsible crops, that are grown with respect for the people and forests that surround them.

  • Medium bristles: You can choose between different bristle strengths and various colours, so that every member of the house has their own personalised combination.

This toothbrush’s bristles are made from nylon-6. They do NOT contain Bisphenol A (BPA), a common additive and endocrine disruptor that is very harmful to our health. It is present in many plastic toothbrushes. The brush is available with soft and flexible bristles to protect even the most sensitive gums and also with medium strength bristles. The nylon-6 used to make these toothbrushes does not contain petroleum derivatives as it is made from castor oil.

  • Lifespan:

If the toothbrush starts to get lighter in colour or tip begins to turn white, don’t worry it’s normal. Bamboo is a natural material and the brush has not been varnished.

Like with any other toothbrush, we recommend that you change your bamboo toothbrush every 3 months.

  • Care:

Store in a dry place. Avoid standing it in a glass on the bathroom sink as this is where water and dampness tends to accumulate.

Cleaning the bristles is the same as with any plastic toothbrush. If some toothpaste builds up, rinse and rub the bristles clean under warm water.

  • Recycling and composting:

BOO’s packaging is made up of boxes that do not require glue or adhesives. They are self assembling boxes. This makes them super easy to recycle.

In order to recycle and compost your toothbrush at the end of it’s life, remove the bristles with tweezers or pliers. They are joined to the brush head with a metal staple. Just give a strong tug to release the staple. Then you can throw the bamboo handle directly in the compost, as it is 100% biodegradable and will breakdown over the next 6 months or so. The nylon-6 bristles and the metal staples are 100% recyclable. Best to check with your local council to see whether you can throw them directly into the recycling containers or if you should take them to a specific recycling centre.

  • It is recommended that you only detach the handle from the toothbrush head when you want to replace the head with a new one.
  • Store in a dry spot. Avoid using a glass, as water tends to accumulate at the bottom.
  • You can clean the bristles by putting the brush head in boiling water every now and then or simply running it under the tap.
  • To recycle and compost your used toothbrush, remove the bristles with tweezers or some pliers. They are attached to the brush head by a metal staple.
